I couldn't properly use double click on idea so I found a great solution in this post.
To resume:

In your home directory create a file called .Xresources and add the following line

*multiClickTime: 400

Then from the commandline execute

xrdb ~/.Xresources

It's amazing that intellij doesn't take in account this issue.

Serving jboss logs as static content

This configuration has been tested using red hat linux and jboss 5.1.x

Edit the
<jboss_home>/server/default/deployers/jbossweb.deployer/web.xml
and change the servlet attribute listings from false to true.
Edit the
<jboss_home>/server/default/deploy/jbossweb.sar/servlet.xml
and add the attribute allowLinking="true" to the Context element.
Create a log folder in the path
<jboss_home>/server/default/deploy/ROOT.war
In the log folder create a symbolic link to the log folder of jboss
$ ln -s ../../../log listAll
Restart the jboss instance
The logs will be available at this url http://myHost:8080/log/listAll

Jboss - Port already in use: 1098

I got this exception after started jboss 5.1 on windows XP.

java.rmi.server.ExportException: Port already in use: 1098; 
nested exception is:

I tried to understand which process was using that port by running this command:


$> netstat -a -o -n

But the result didn't show any port associated to 1098.
Finally I edited the file at <jboss_51_home>\server\default\conf\bindingservice.beans\META-INF\bindings-jboss-beans.xml
and changed the value of the port 1098 to 10980 and the error has disappeared.
Windows and Jboss ...such a nightmare.

So found the root of the problem, the maven local repository in windows is located at the path:
C:\Documents and Settings\<user>\.m2

So I have overridden the local maven repository folder adding this entry in the settings.xml maven configuration file:

Compro una itunes card a losanna, provo a ricaricare il mio itunes store direttamente dal mio iphone ma mi dice che non è possibile, cerco su google lo stesso...praticamente sto cazzo di iphone non è buono a niente.
Devo quindi scaricarmi itunes sul portatile, lo scarico, ci accedo ma quando inserisco il mio codice mi dice che quel codice non è valido per il mercato italiano, essendo il mio account itunes italiano...che faccio cambio la residenza sul mio account itunes provo una decina di volte a inserire sto codice...a volte mi dice che è valido a volte no...alla fine ci riesco e dall' iphone riesco a scaricare la mia prima canzone...ovviamente dall' itunes store svizzero.
Ma vi sembra tutto ciò normale...pensavo di inserire sto codice direttamente dall' iphone e scaricare...invece alla fine ci ho perso un' ora....basta mi sa che mi butto su android.

Some weeks ago I've started to practice jogging on regular basis from two to five times a week. This is not only to the purpose to lose weight but because this activity helps me to be in form and be wealthy.
Usually I write on my skype profile the days of the week when I go to run but this evening, after having had my 20 minutes jogging around Lausanne, a thought came to my mind, which is, why do not collect all these information i.e. time, day, km, location in order to have some nice and useful reports at later time?
In the past I used to write down these information on my paper agenda but as I am a software engineer, I was thinking that maybe a web application could be cooler together with the fact I can save and view my records in any place I could be.
There are many people who like to have jogging, so why don't share this application with them?
As a result of all this I have created myjogging in googlecode.
I hope to be able to deploy the application on line by the end of the year.

If you are in a different subnet go to the TCP/IP properties of your windows network connection and be sure to have this settings:

Well, it appeared to be impossible to find a pair of shoes sized 46 in Minsk. I have visited so far 6 shops and no shoes of my size.
Unfortunately I have brought from Lausanne only a sport pair of shoes but when I put them on I am refused by the security of the clubs, it has happened tonight when I tried to enter to overtime discotheque.
By chance tonight I have discovered a go kart track in Minsk and I had two races, it was exciting in spite I was passed by many other drivers.

Deploying Spring @Component annotated application in JBoss 5.1

I've spent the last few days fighting with jboss 5.1 trying to deploy a spring based web application using the Component annotation.
The application as opposed works using Tomcat 6.
Basically the spring context was not able to find the definition of SchedulerBo which is my Component annotated class.

Therefore I changed this row in my listener.

Here the steeps to follow to solve the problem:

Add this dependency to your pom, be sure to have the jboss repository in your pom.xml

E' incredibile, dopo la brutale aggressione a Silvio Berlusconi da parte di Massimo Tartaglia, 42enne milanese con problemi mentali, fioccano i gruppi e i fan che simpatizzano per il gesto vigliacco.
Chi scrive è sempre stato critico nei confronti di Silvio Berlusconi, è convinto che il premier abbia avuto relazioni con la mafia, spera che un giorno venga processato e condannato.
Ma come si può gioire di fronte al gesto di uno folle che vigliaccamente lancia un oggetto contundente in faccia ad una persona che non si può difendere, fosse stato anche il peggior nazista io non posso tollerare questo gesto, e mi riesce difficile avere degli amici come Enrico di Roma che aderiscono a questi gruppi su facebook. Che senso ha giustificare tali gesti violenti, dove ci porta? Avrebbe anche potuto ucciderlo. Mario, un uomo dall'aspetto giovanile pur se alla soglia dei quaranta stava volando verso una nuova terra dell' est, povera ma ricca di giovani e compiacenti fanciulle.
Era seduto vicino al finestrino con lo sguardo perso nel vuoto a fissare le nuvole e le montagne imbiancate.
Vicino a lui un uomo greve tra i 55 e i 60 anni, della bassa padovana che viaggiava alla volta dell' est con un gruppo di amici per una battuta di caccia, anche se credo non cacciasse solo animali.
L'uomo e Mario iniziarono a parlare, entrambi erano veneti, Mario aveva colto l'accento veneto del suo compagno di volo sin da subito seduti a bordo.
"Anche lei vai all' est?" chiese Mario all' uomo il quale replicò narrando della caccia, degli amici, la baita e delle numerose volte che era stato in quella terra.

What in your opinion the maximum difference in age in a sexual relationship, I found this article on wikipedia quite interesting, basically it says the age of the woman should be greater than the half of the man plus 7, i.e. let's say the man is 38, the woman should be at least 26 (38/2 + 7).

Again on the University in Italy. What I try to repeat to all the people I know is that the figures concerning the dispersion/abandon of the students subscribed at the degree of Electronic Engineering in Padua you cannot find them in any other countries.
Less than one out of three students subscribed to Electronic Engineer has completed his studies and achieved the diploma, the average number of years taken to complete the degree was 8,5 years against the legal 5.
Therefore I consider the faculty of Engineering in Padua one of the most difficult and challenging course of study in the world.
Having said that I do not pretend to say that this course is better than what there is in another countries just I want to highlight that it doesn't make sense to compare degree between different countries if you don't take in account these figures. In Ireland, just to give you an example, students achieve their degree at their first 20, and during their studies they have a lot of fun, parties, sports, and so on. In Minsk I know a girl which at the age of 25 has already had three specialization in Medicine, and she was able to work at the same time, almost the same for another girl from there which I know.
Does it make sense having spent the best years all my life to studying such complex mathematical theorems? Of course, no it doesn't at least for the job I am doing, which is most important to have a fluent English and to be smart in programming, all topics which I didn't study in my degree.
So what? I cannot come back unfortunately, I have waste many years and money, I could have start working at the age of 23, 24 as it has happened for many of my colleagues. You know what was the error at that time, to believe that the there wasn't any other world, academic world, outside that fucking DEI in Padua. I was thinking that to achieve the degree in electronic engineer was the only possibility to achieve a job as engineer, but I was wrong. Engineer...everyone is engineer in the companies where I have been working, I have meet Indian test engineers aged 21, that's so strange, what was I doing at my 21?
Hope to not having come back to this topic again, I am so fed up to justify this, of course I am proud to having surpassed all those obstacles but for what?

I only say, oh my god how many years lost in a useless degree course in electronic engineer, I work with guys from all over the world who had completed their studies at the age of 21 22. I mean What was the sense to have been spent the most beautiful years in my life to achieve one of the most difficult degree in the World...I mean why all and I say all the engineers in Spain finish at 22 23 when the average age in Padova was about 26 27, Are we stupid, or are they smarter than us, I mean it doesn't make any sense. In order to skip the test you have to add the parameter -Dmaven.test.skip=true when you run the mvn from command line.

You should not compare apples with pears, that is, you cannot compare the Italian University system with the Irish system for example. You cannot say that because Irish students complete the degree in the legal time they are better than Italians. I just remember that when I was student in Electronic Engineer In Padua (Italy) only one of three students registered was able to complete the studies, is that the same in Ireland or Armenia? Always when I was student I remember that the average time spent by students to get the degree was 8,5 years against the 5 legal. Again is the same in Ireland or Armenia, just two countries by random. Yes sure, I could spend less than the number of years I spent, but again, you cannot compare two different systems, like you cannot compare the number of goals marked by a football player in Italy with those marked in the Sweden or Armenian championship. So please before trying to do any evaluation try to understand the difference in the systems. By the way, last Friday I have known the result of the FCE test I did last December, well I got the FCE with the score of 66/100, the minimum was 60. Yes my English is still not good but if I think that 2 years before was not allowed to attend the FCE course preparation at the British Council school in Milan because they said my English was not enough to sustain the course, well it means I did some progresses. Next objective... the CAE, when? At the beginning of the 2010.

If you are using spring message tag library you know how much is annoying get a runtime exception in the case you have inserted a wrong code as attribute.
For every message code tag library you define in your jsp you have to add the corresponding property entry in the message.properties file but can happen you forget to insert it or maybe you insert a wrong value.

I have to define the corresponding entry in the file message.properties, or in more files depending on the type of internationalization I use.

A way to avoid to get the runtime exception, in case of wrong code, is to add the property text to the message tl. In case of not matching the value of text will appear in the page and you could fix the problem after. Better to use text property with ? before and after the string so that you can easily understand there is a wrong value of code.
Therefore use

BLOB type in MySQL

I had this exception when I was trying to insert a big image in a BLOB column using MySQL.

java.sql.BatchUpdateException: Data truncation: Data too long for column 'picture' at row 1

The problem didn't happen with small images, i.e. with the size of 2,3Kb. After spent some time to investigate about the problem, I understood that the reason is due to the BLOB type in MySQL whose maximum size is 64k. Therefore if you want to store big binary data in a MySQL database you need to use another blob type as MEDIUMBLOB or LONGBLOB.
If you are using JPA annotations to define your tables you need to specify the length of your BLOB attribute using the @Column annotation.
Here is what I have defined for the picture attribute used in jugevents application.


@Lob
@Basic(fetch = FetchType.LAZY)
@Column(length=1048576)    
public byte[] getPicture() {
  return picture;
}

In this way the type of the column corresponding to the picture attribute will be MEDIUMBLOB instead of BLOB and you won't get that exception

Cost of life in Dublin

The price of restaurants in Dublin is really high and the quality of food is really bad, at least if compare to Italy. It doesn't make sense to spend such a lot of money to eat chicken or potatoes. I don't know how's going this country...they are in recession, the number of unemployed people is getting high, but the shops and the restaurants don't want to cut the price. I realize last week end when I was in Venice how much cheaper are the price over there, I went to panorama supermarket in Marghera, I bought many items and I was amazed to have spent only 13 eur, in this fucking tesco at Stillorgan I would have spend for the same things at least 20 eur.
I mean...pay attention when you hear about salary in Ireland, even if it's true that the taxes are lower the cost of life is so fucking expansive over here...and you have to bear on mind that you don't have extra monthly salary like 13th or 14th and you don't even have TFR. You have to pay for your food at work, when in Italy you have ticket restaurants or free canteen. And, last but non least you have to apply for your schema pension, and it means another deduction of 3 to 4 % by your gross salary.

Just a warning, if you are thinking about watching this movie, please don't do that, it's bullshit. I have had enough of all these American action movies, all of them are equals, the plot is the same, seen one it's like to have seen all of them. The features of the plot are:

Blackcat is back

It was ages I didn't see blackcat and the other black and white cat, so that I was thinking something bad was happened to them. To be honest in the last month I often was out in the night and probably they, tired to uselessly waiting for me, have started to lookup some other humans available to give them food. But today, as I am off at home, I saw, around midday, blackcat coming slowly to my window and I was nicely pleased about that. I still had a jar of kitcat, food for cats, so I gave it to him and he started to eat with pleasure. I am so happy to feed the cat, blackcat my beautiful black tomcat, with the green eyes. Maybe at this point you are wondering where is the other cat, juventus cat. I don't know, and I was hoping to meet him soon, but so far any news. I asked to blackcat where he could be, but he didn't answer to me, maybe because we don't speak the same language, or maybe because he only speaks Irish, that is, Gaelic. Unfortunately I am not still able to talk the cat's language...if it does exist.

Who said that in order to enjoy and to have a great life you need to spend a lot of money? Well actually I think it's bullshit. Saturday I was out with my dear Italian friend Giovanni, I had good time and I didn't spend such a lot of money. I got the bus to go to the city centre, after we had a delicious kebab with drink in a Persian restaurant in temple bar and it was quite cheap. Later we went in a typical Irish pub full of nice people and I paid for two cokes only 6 eur. When we left the pub was late so that there weren't bus to return to Stillorgan. I could take a cab spending 14 eur but I had preferred waiting for the first race of the nite-link that it cost to me only 5 eur. I remember other time when I was to cafe en saine where the drinks are rather expansive and I used to pay drink to the girls, again, I used to return home by cab. No that time is finished.
After a talk with my dear friend marcello, I have understood I need to save money if I want to have something solid for the time I'll be old. He said that because how much I have earned in the last 9 years I should have two loft in Milan...Well that's true even if my salary is not so big, just a normal salary as software engineer. Anyway I have realized that I have dissipated such a lot of money since when I started to work. Another thing I want to stop to do is spending money in expansive restaurants in Dublin. I am scared about this recession, everyone could lose the job in one day so I feel I need to save money. I mean I don't want to be tight but I am really upset after spent 40 eur to eat in a restaurant, does it make sense?
I used to pay even with most of my female friends but I think that time is finished, why should I pay drinks even if we are only friends? Well maybe I could lose some friends in this new phase of my life but maybe they weren't really friends.

Auto injected spring beans

A colleague of mine asked me to solve a problem about using beans, configured using the spring container, in legacy code.
Basically he couldn't change the way those beans are created but he wanted to be able to inject their properties using a spring configuration file.
This is the way he wants to create an instance of the class BeanAutoInjecting.


BeanAutoInjecting bai = new BeanAutoInjecting();

The class BeanAutoInjecting has its attributes injected by spring container but we don't want to have any trace of Spring in the code that use this class.
A friend of mine, Lucio, proposed me to use the class AutowiredAnnotationBeanPostProcessor to sort out this problem.
Therefore we have to modify the constructor of the class BeanAutoInjecting in this way:

Tonight I spent some time talking with my dear Ukrainian friend using skype. She told me it would be nice to bring some flowers when you date a woman if you want to make a good impression. This remembered me a fact happened when I was working in Lugano, Switzerland, in 2001, and I used to date with a woman over there. Once time, having an appointment with her, I decided to bring her some flowers so I went to the florist and I liked some flowers exposed in the shop. I bought them but I didn't realize they were chrysanthemum, I didn't even said to the seller what was the reason I was buying the flowers. When the girl received the flowers she didn't say me nothing at that time, she only remembered me some time later saying that she had been very disappointed at that time. If you are wondering why to donate chrysanthemum is not appropriate, is because in Italy and in many countries, we use to bring these flowers to the defunct in the cemetery.
Yes it was a big mistake for sure, the next time I'll be careful....

Christmas decorations

Usually returning to Dublin after a week end spent in Venice is so depressing and sad but today was different. Something unexpected has happened in my life and I am really glad to enjoy my life in Dublin. What to say, maybe is too early, but last week in Dublin was so thick that I cannot believe it's was only one week, it seems would have been months.I think to have found something really important for my life. I feel so good, this evening was wonderful, I only regret to have lost so many years in my life without it. I won't tell you what is it, just it's a beautiful thing makes me happy and proud. All these Christmas decorations now make sense in my life. "I will tell you", and you now what is it...now I live and it's a beautiful emotion.

Just to say that I am really lucky to be one of the developers of jugevents, according to me the best ever web application I have worked on. I mean, nothing special over there but all is rational, logic, simple.
Just an example, in development I need to test the functionality add new jugger but I don't want to send emails every time I test it, because I have previously test that service. Well, I only need to mock the dependency to the mail sender bean in this way

Flying to Dublin

Can you imagine how much was irritating to hear a stranger girl speaking all the time behind me during the flight from Venice to Dublin this evening?
I couldn't really understand where she came from, maybe she was German or maybe from Denmark, Norway, Lithuania, I really don't care, the point is that she was very annoying, she hasn't stopped for a while to speak and even worst always with the same tone. Well, that's true, I easily get annoyed...anyway I wasn't the only one to complain.
A part from this little problem the flight was ok, we started with a bit delay from Venice but we landed on time at Dublin airport. During the flight, even if disturbed by that girl, I read the preparation book to get the SCEA. In fact I came to the idea of studying to get the SCEA, maybe because one of my colleagues is doing the same. Well, a part the ejb, I think the topics dealt in the certification are quite interesting. A part from that I presume that having this certification could help me to find a convenient job in a role of software architect.
Well maybe I am doing too many things in the same moment, in fact I already was committed in studying for the forthcoming FCE, and also I have to complete the speaker functionality for jugevents, so I think I will start to study hard for the SCEA only after the FCE. I was a bit sad before leaving venice for dublin but once the plane took off I was relaxed. I spent a really good week end this time, I am not sure about something has happened but I want to hope it would be as I image now. Good night guys.

My friends in Spinea

This evening I have had a nice skype call with some friends of mine, in Italy: Nicola, Claudio, Andrea. They were at claudio's home, as usual, to celebrate the Nicola's birthday. I wanted to participate to the party and I also was invited but unfortunately I was in Dublin while the party took place in Spinea, Venice.
It was nice to talk with the guys using cam for a while, I think to be lucky to have these friends even if the last time I couldn't attend many of the events they have organized as I have been working far from spinea.
Time flies away but they look in the same way like many years ago, what I like in them is their naturalness and simplicity. Between us there is no competition just a way to spend pleasant moments together.
I hope in the future to have more opportunities to stay with them, I really don't know when I 'll be back to Italy but I think someday will happen.
Sometimes I ask to myself what is the sense of the live and I cannot find an answer...when I was student I was used to go to study in the library with a friend of mine, Mario. One day, coming back home we were discussing about what is a successful life, and I said that to me it was to have money, career, to be someone important in the life. Mario said that what is really important is the relationship you have built in your life, your friends. At that time I didn't give a shit to his answer but now, in this night where I am writing this post, I think he maybe was right.

Too many engineers

When I was student and I had spent many hours of my day to study theorems, and complicate mathematics formulas, well at that time I thought that to become electronic engineer in Padua would have made sense. I thought.. I give my time, I don't go to holiday, I don't have a job because it's a kind of investment. I passed years to study beautiful topics about maths, physic, electronic thinking that I needed to know these things to be an engineer, to work an as engineer.
Well, since I started to work as software developer I have had colleagues without my title, sometimes even more skilled than me. So now I think, was that necessary? Was necessary to sacrifice the best years of my live to achieve a qualification that it's not required to have in my work? I am proud to be an electronic engineer in Padua, not all the people can achieve what I achieved but I think they were not happy years, no holiday, no car to going out with girls, fighting with parents about my delay in doing exams, almost every day.
Anyway, I was forgetting the main reason I am writing this post...too many engineer title in the world. They started with the guys that achieved the short degree in engineer, they were called engineer, even if they are not, even worse with students in the engineer diploma. But what about foreign countries...how is possible that in India people are engineer at 21? It doesn't make any sense...and what where I work, everyone is engineer and they started to work at their 20s. Two are the things, or the italian students are stupid or we have to admit that abroad getting a degree is easier than in Italy, really much easier.
The last thing is about where I work, there are a lot of tasks with the role of engineer, like integration engineer, test engineer. I would like that this word, engineer, would be used with more prudence, we are not all engineer.
The funny thing was when the guy called to fix a problem with air-conditioned was called engineer...oh MY God what a shit life :(

Ubuntu Window Grouping

The default window grouping setting in ubuntu results in opening a separate tab, in the bottom bar, for every application running.
i.e. if you are using skype and you are talking with 3 different users you will see three different tabs in the bar.
In order to change the window grouping settings follow this steps:

Right click on the bottom bar, on the left (in the visible space);
Preferences
Check Always group windows

Refreshing cache DNS in Windows

In Windows there is cache for DNS. In order to refresh the cache from command line and refer to the correct IP you need to execute this command:


$ ipconfig /flushdns

After that verify the correct IP of the website you want to connect using:


$ tracert <myWebSite>

Week End in Dublin

What about the week end just finished? Well, not so bad, I went out Friday and Saturday while today I have spent day at home cleaning house, studying English, feeding cats, washing clothes and so on. Friday I met my dear Lithuanian friend, she has been for more than 4 months in NY so it was a pleasure having some beers with her after such a long time. Saturday I went to Italian pizzeria "La gondola", in Temple bar with my Russian friend. The pizza was pretty good even if the place is really small, and expansive as well. After pizza I reached my friend Marcello at "cafe en seine" and I had some pints of beers with him. I saw him dancing close to a beautiful polish girl, she looked like a model, so I was happy for him. Sunday is always a bit depressing, even if today there was sunny and it wasn't so cold. I went to stillorgan shopping center trying to buy waterproof trousers, but I didn't find anything, nevertheless I bought some foods at tesco market. In the last time I have adopted the pomodoro technique to manage my studies at home, especially English homework and working on parancoe/jugevents stuff. So today I have completed three English pomodoro and half Parancoe pomodoro...I know, my friend Lucio won't be happy about that...but I am going to delivery the plugin soon...belive me.

Piccole Soddisfazioni

Che dire, questo è un post del cazzo, ma essendo il mio blog ci scrivo quello che mi va, ci sono anche troppe limitazioni di libertà nella mia vita che basta.
Beh per dire cosa, che sono contento di usare la bici per andare al lavoro, sono molto contento, peccato che non ci posso andare il lunedi e il mercoledi che ho il corso di inglese ma almeno 5 giorni su 7 ci vado e sono 14 + 14 km, molto bello e ci vado anche se piove e fa freddo.
Che altro, beh sono contento di come sto mangiando negli ultimi mesi, della dieta che faccio, infatti ho perso 4 kg negli ultimi 40 giorni...che dieta faccio, beh semplice..ho completamente eliminato la pasta, la pizza, le candy drink nonchè tutto il cibo spazzatura, per il resto non ho limitazioni mangio tanta carne, pesce, verdura, frutta ( anche 3 arance al giorno), fagioli, etc. E mi sento bene, funziona davvero, voglio continuare e perdere almeno altri 9 kg, il segreto comunque è associare la dieta ad una attività sportiva. Forse ho imparato tardi, ma meglio tardi che mai, ho capito che per ottenere qualcosa si deve procedere a piccoli passi ma con costanza, nello studio, nella dieta, nel risparmio, nel lavoro. Mi sembra anche di migliorare con l'inglese, stasera al corso di preparazione al FCE, nella parte di listening sono andato abbastanza bene, indovinate 6 su 8, ma c'è tempo per migliorare. Con la Monia le cose vanno bene, ci sarà un motivo per cui ci continuiamo a vedere dal 2002, che dire ormai la considero parte di me, mi piacerebbe tanto avere una famiglia con lei. Insomma dai non c'è male, si lo so non è il massimo come vita, ma almeno non fa così schifo. Ah dimenticavo, adesso i gatti nel mio giardino sono due, oltre a blackcat, viene spesso anche jugevents che è molto più selvaggio ma anche pauroso allo stesso tempo. Sono sempre la che mi aspettano la sera per avere qualcosa di succulento da mangiare. Ok ora vado a letto, domani al lavoro in bici anche se piove.

Again thoughts about my Studies

OK... I know, maybe I am going to make some more enemies with the people I know, but I need to say this thing. I could get a degree in Information Techonlogy in Mestre (Venice) in just 4 years instead of spending 9 years of my life to get a bachelor in Electronic Engineering at the University of Padua and now I would have had the same chances to work here in this company in Dublin as software engineer. It would have been extremely easy to get that degree and for sure I would have had more time to enjoy my life. At that time I didn't give a shit at this course but now I realize that with the purpose of my job there isn't any difference. I am really convinced about the bachelor in Electronic Engineer released by the University of Padua (Italy) is one of the best and the more difficult degree to get. You cannot compare that degree with the easy diploma of Engineer released by the same University, But even worse you cannot compare it in terms of difficulty with other kind of degrees released by other Italian Universities. And what if we take in consideration how much is easy to get a degree in other countries of Europe, let's say Ireland or Spain? In those countries you can get your degree in the exactly number of years. The point is, once clarified that this degree is really difficult and very qualified, what's useful for? I mean, why did I spend so many years of my life to become Electronic Engineer in Padua if after that my job is software developer and it concerns developing easy piece of code in my team? There is no sense, it would have been enough getting a degree in "Science of the Information Technology" it would had taken 4 years instead of so many years I spent to get mine. Better again it would have been going abroad like UK or Ireland, and get my education while I was having fun in parties and sport activities. Oh My God how much life throwing out in studying usefulness Math theorems.

Beh con un gatto nero, che ho chiamato blackcat, ho fatto un po' di amicizia offrendogli talvolta dei pezzi di pollo crudo che lui gradisce. A me piacciono tanto i gatti, purtroppo invece non piacciono al mio coinquilino il quale li odia perchè dice che sporcano e portano malattie...ma come si fa ad odiare questi bellissimi gattini? Stasera mentre stavo mangiando si è affacciato alla finestra un gatto bianconero, probabilmente juventino, ma chi lo sa, magari visto che vive in Irlanda gli piace vedere l'hurling. Fattostà che dopo è entrato dalla finestra sopra il lavabo, che avevo lasciato aperta. Quando l'ho visto gli ho detto di uscire e lui è uscito. In quel momento è arrivato il mio coinquilino furibondo che ha iniziato a disinfettare e pulire dove il gattino aveva camminato. Pensavo, come mai il gattino juventino ha provato ad entrare? Forse blackcat gli ha detto che sono un umano di cui fidarsi, ma adesso che si è spaventato il gattino juventino andrà a dire a blackcat che sono un cattivone e perderò un amico. Comunque, per evitare in futuro che altri gatti entrino in casa, pensavo di mettere fuori un cartello con scritto "Vietato entrare ai gatti, anche a blackcat". Loro sono dei bravi animali e capiranno e se ne staranno fuori....mi viene il dubbio che non capiscano, dovrei metterlo forse con la scritta in inglese?

MySQL case sensitive in linux

MySQL table names are case-sensitive depending on the filesystem of the server. e.g. insensitive on Windows & Mac HFS+, Case sensitive on Unix.

It means that if you have stored the table PIPPO (upper case) in your database, the select query:
select * from pippo
doesn't work and it returns a message like ..."table pippo doesn't exist".
In order to prevent this problem you have to set set lower_case_table_names=1 in your /etc/mysql/my.cnf file. In this way the mysql server will store the table in the file system using lower case.
Here the steps I have followed:

Chek the status of lower_case_table_names typing: $ mysqladmin -uroot -p variables
$ sudo gedit /etc/mysql/my.cnf
edit the file adding the entry lower_case_table_names=1 just under the group definition: [mysqld]
[mysqld] # # * Basic Settings # # # * IMPORTANT # If you make changes to these settings and your system uses apparmor, you may # also need to also adjust /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld. # lower_case_table_names=1 user = mysql pid-file = /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid socket = /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock port = 3306 basedir = /usr datadir = /var/lib/mysql tmpdir = /tmp language = /usr/share/mysql/english skip-external-locking
shutdown the mysqlserver: $ mysqladmin -uroot -p shutdown
start the mysqlserver: $ sudo mysqld &
Chek the new status of lower_case_table_names typing: $ mysqladmin -uroot -p variables
Remember that you have to re store the tables in the database, the best way to do that is dropping your database and running the SQL script.
Test if works running a query like $ select * from pippo supposing you have stored PIPPO upper case

I ran this configuration with ubuntu 8.0.4, dell XPS1530, mysql 5-0

dell xps 1530

Che palle, ho speso 1640 eur per il mio dell xps 1530 e sto avendo un casino di problemi. Vi racconto un po' la storia.
Mi arriva il dell a venezia, il primo week end che torno da dublino lo prendo con me...ahime dimentico i dischetti di installazine.
Ho windows vista ultimate pre installato con tutti i drivers, sembra funzionare tutto bene fino a quando un giorno per errore premo il tasto media-direct anzichè il tasto on. Beh il computer si pianta, mediadirect cerca di accedere al disco rigido ma vista glie lo impedisce. Non c'è niente da fare non riesco a sbloccare nemmeno riavviando il latpop. Mi consola il fatto che è un problema ricorrente. Beh è domenica, sono a dublino ma il dell l'ho comprato da dell italia e non riesco a contattare il supporto tecnico italiano, decido di installare ubuntu, cancellando vista. Tutto sembra ok, ma mi accorgo che il wireless funziona ad intermittenza sulla mia scheda wireless abg3945. Praticamanete a volte non parte e non c'è niente da fare, reinstallo ubuntu il problema è lo stesso, funziona a tratti. Vedo che in internet altri hanno lo stesso problema, mi consola ma non tanto. Alla fine nei forum trovo un trucco come bypassare il problema, devo mettere una direttiva 'noapic' in un file di inizializzazione, sembra funzionare, ma rimane ancora il problema del microfono, non riesco a configurare sto cazzo di microfono in ubuntu che invece in vista funzionava. Provo in tutti i modi ma non funziona, anche skype ha i suoi problemi come il lettore real player per firefox, ovvero funzionano ma a volte sono instabili. Insomma va abbastanza bene ma non riesco a telefonare dal computer usando voipstunt perchè non funziona sto cavolo di microfono.
Altro week end in italia, prendo su i dischetti di installazione e decido di reinstallare sopra vista. Funziona anche se mi accorgo che la dell non da i dischetti con i drivers ma devi scaricarteli dal loro sito. Beh alla fine configuro ma il microfono funziona a basso volume, mi tocca parlare con la bocca attaccata al laptop.
Decido di configurare l'ambiente di sviluppo per jugevents, installo java senza problemi, idem eclipse, maven, etc. Passo ad installare mysql, quando clicco su "config mysql" sparisce il programma, riprovo ed è lo stesso, cerco in internet anche altri hanno sto problema...e non c'è una soluzione semplice, sembra ci sia un conflitto di porte...o forse il firewall...boh. Ok trovata la soluzione e funziona!! (Mai disperare :-) ) Beh decido di importare il progetto jugevents con eclipse, lo carico ed eclipse esplode, problema di accessviolationexception. Cazzo che fare...ubuntu o vista, però anche dell ci mette del suo...boh. Non so mi sa che installo sia vista, per la multimedialità etc e ubuntu per lo sviluppo....ma che palle sti computer con tutti i soldi che ho speso, facevo prima a tenermi il mio HP Pavillon 17 pollici con windows XP; funzionava bene, non ho mai avuto problemi. Sono quasi tentato di darlo via sto dell e prendermi un laptop senza vista...boh vediamo. Cmq sono un po' esaurito...

Installing cruisecontrol as service on windows XP

Here the steps I have followed in order to install and run cruisecontrol as a windows service.

Download cruisecontrol. I used the version 2.6.2 windows installer.
Run the installer and check the windows service box.
Remove the service using the command: $ sc delete CruiseControl
Go to <CRUISE_HOME> folder and edit the wrapper.conf file and be sure it contains the following entry:
# Application parameters. # Add parameters as needed starting from 1 wrapper.app.parameter.1=CruiseControlWithJetty wrapper.app.parameter.2=-jmxport wrapper.app.parameter.3=8000 wrapper.app.parameter.4=-configfile wrapper.app.parameter.5=config.xml wrapper.app.parameter.6=-rmiport wrapper.app.parameter.7=1099 wrapper.app.parameter.8=-webport wrapper.app.parameter.9=8180
I set the listening port of cruisecontrol to 8180, you can change the value as you like.
Open a dos windows corresponding to <CRUISE_HOME> folder and type: $ wrapper -i wrapper.conf
You should read the message: "wrapper | CruiseControl Service installed."
Try to open a browser at the url: http://localhost:8180
If you see the normal screen of cruisecontrol you have been lucky (not like me) and you are done!.
...Otherwise...If you see an error like 500 code open the wrapper.log under the log folder. Check for a message like:
Unable to find a javac compiler;
com.sun.tools.javac.Main is not on the classpath.
Perhaps JAVA_HOME does not point to the JDK.

proceed with the following item.
Copy the file tools.jar to <JAVA_HOME>\jre\lib\ext folder. I found this solution here.
Restart the service, it should be works.
If still doesn't work... copy the tools.jar also under the folder /lib/ext

Maybe there is a faster and easier process to have cruisecontrol running as service. Anyway if you follow this guide you will successfully configure cruise as service.

I can't say much more, just I was wondering why do people tend to complicate all the things that could be easily developed, why do I need a bus to go to work if I am alone in the bus, why do I need an expansive computer if I have only to use excel, and why do I need to define another language if I can use well known languages to do the same. So why I have to spend 1000 eur for a watch when I could spend 50 to achieve the same result, that is checking the time. Keep things easy and you would be loved, common patterns, common words. Ask yourself what are you going to produce, what the costumer wants and try to realize it as simple as you can, there is no way to invent things if they are already available, and most of them for free. Look at jugevents, it's one of the best web application in the world, and it works, it's easy to understand, and it uses common frameworks. I like working on it, just would like having more time to dedicate on it.

Last August, still when I was working in Milan, I went to FFSS (Italian Railway), central station in Milan, for asking refund of the ticket I wouldn't used.
It was the August 24th, by the way my mother's birthday. The gentle clerk of FFSS, after I have been waiting in queue for more than one hours, told me that in order to have back my money I should have been waiting for at least 6 months, using my credit card. I was a bit shocked, why 6 months for a simple refund of an unused ticket? But you know we are in Italy, we are famous for mafia, bureaucracy, bad government, pizza, spaghetti, mandolin, for sure not for public offices efficiency.
We are in the month of March, and I have forgotten about this refund, but tonight while I was checking online my credit card expenses I saw an item corresponding to a lodge of 52 eur in my credit card. I am happy about that, but at the same time I still don't understand why does this simple operation take such a long time?

If you are going to use gmail as smtp server in your spring configuration file remember to add the property mail.smtp.starttls.enable and set it to true.
